ALBA was founded by the Veterans of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade (VALB). Immediately thereafter, however, ALBA began to reach out to the larger educational, cultural, and political community to form a representative board and executive community that would include members from all constituencies with interest in the legacy of the Spanish Civil War, the International Brigades, and/or the antifascist struggle of the 1930s. Now ALBA’s governing board, in addition to Lincoln veterans, includes artists, writers, film makers, university professors, and cultural workers from the United States and Europe. During more than one year, he placed his camera between the workers who construct the second story of the gigantic highway in Mexico City. It´s a building site of overflowing realism that has many magic moments, but especially the final shot of the movie, a sequence of almost five minutes, and another sequence where the construction advances at a rhtythm of a machine at a disturbing cybernetic rate . The hole, according to the Aztec translation, is the place where all the souls go, the bridge that devours them, meanwhile they continue construction over it.
